Terms of Service

The terms that apply when you use Loomo.

Last updated: October 28, 2026

Using Loomo

Loomo is a personal planning tool for trips, money and time outdoors, run as a small independent project. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use Loomo.

Who runs Loomo

Loomo is built and run by one independent developer in Virginia, United States, trading as Loomo — not a company. A real person reads and answers hello@loomo.cc. If that ever changes, this section will say so.

Age

You must be at least 18 years old to use Loomo, also as a guest, or to create an account. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we delete it if we learn that we have.

Your account

  • Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your password and your email inbox secure.
  • You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • Don't share your login, and tell us if you think someone else has gained access.
  • One account per person. Loomo is for your personal, non-commercial use.

Acceptable use

Please don't try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, don't bulk-download map or trail data through the app, don't work around rate limits or allowances, don't use Loomo to store unlawful content, and don't attempt to reach other people's accounts or data. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

This doesn't limit what the open-data licences behind Trails allow you to do with that data. Loomo's own OpenStreetMap-derived trail and campsite data is available under the Open Database License: email hello@loomo.cc for a free copy, and see Credits at the bottom of Loomo's home page for every source.

Camping data sources: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL); Data Source: Recreation.gov; Source: National Park Service; EV charger data: U.S. DOE / NREL Alternative Fuels Data Center. These sources are named as credit only; none of them endorses Loomo. The merged Camping database (campsites, huts, dump stations, water points and EV chargers) is available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. Download it at https://loomo.cc/api/camping/database. License and source credits: https://loomo.cc/api/camping/database/license. You can also email hello@loomo.cc for a free copy.

Your content belongs to you

Your trips, stops, notes, and budget entries are yours. We store and process them only to provide the app to you. We don't claim ownership of them, we don't use them to train anything, and we don't use them to sell advertising.

Your content and sharing

Some things you can choose to make public. A trip you publish in Together is visible to everyone, including visitors who are not signed in, together with your display name and profile picture, and other members can rate it and save their own copy. A route you publish in Trails (when that feature is on) is shown to other members with its title and your display name; your activities and GPS tracks are never shared. You keep ownership of what you publish and give Loomo permission to display it as part of the service for as long as it stays published.

Don't publish other people's personal data, unlawful or hateful content, or anything you don't have the rights to. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules. To report something, use the Report option where Loomo offers one, or email hello@loomo.cc.

Community rules

Pulse lets members post activities, photos, comments, group posts and groups that other members see, and Trails lets them publish routes. Before you post for the first time, Loomo asks you to agree to these rules. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

  • No objectionable content: nothing abusive, hateful, threatening, sexual, pornographic or graphically violent, nothing that promotes self-harm or illegal activity, and no spam or scams.
  • No harassment or bullying of anyone, no impersonation, and no posting other people's personal data or photos of them without their permission.
  • Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the accounts that post it are disabled.
  • We review every report within 24 hours. To report a post, comment, activity, group, route or person, use Report in its menu. To stop seeing someone, use Block: you no longer see each other's activities, posts or comments, and neither of you can follow the other. You can also email hello@loomo.cc.

Loomo Plus membership

Loomo is free to use. Loomo Plus is an optional paid membership that adds features such as extra offline map capacity, wildlife layers, tax documents, and bigger AI and attachment allowances. Activity recording, ordinary route building and Apple Watch do not require a purchase. What is included is listed in Settings → Membership and may change over time; we will not remove a feature you paid for during a period you have already paid for.

Prices are shown in US dollars before any tax that applies where you live: $4.99 a month, $45.99 a year, and a one-time lifetime membership of $79 for the first 500 members.

Monthly and annual memberships renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. For a web purchase, cancel from Settings → Membership (Manage subscription); for an Apple purchase, use Manage Apple subscription or Apple Settings → Subscriptions. After cancellation, your membership then stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and is not renewed. The founding price stays the same for as long as that subscription remains active; if it ends, a new subscription is at the regular price.

Eligible annual subscriptions start with one free month after you confirm the subscription. For web purchases, first-time web subscribers receive one trial per Loomo account, then renew at $45.99/year before applicable tax; returning web subscribers pay the annual price without another trial. Apple determines introductory eligibility for its subscription group and shows the localized renewal price before confirmation. Monthly has no introductory free trial. We send a reminder two days before an eligible annual trial ends. To avoid renewal, cancel web subscriptions before the trial ends, or Apple subscriptions in Apple Settings at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Previously granted complimentary Loomo access keeps its stated expiry and never becomes a paid subscription automatically.

A lifetime membership is a single payment for Loomo Plus for as long as Loomo offers Plus. It is tied to your Loomo account. An Apple-verified purchase can be restored after deleting that account, but only the purchase is recovered; deleted trips, photos and other personal data stay deleted. A purchase cannot be transferred away from an existing live Loomo account. Buying Lifetime does not automatically cancel a running Apple subscription; cancel that subscription in Apple Settings to stop its renewals.

For web purchases through Paddle, email hello@loomo.cc within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund. Later web renewals are refunded where the law requires it. For purchases billed by Apple, request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com; Apple determines eligibility under its terms and applicable consumer rights.

For web purchases through Paddle: Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle’s checkout terms apply to the purchase itself. Loomo stores only the plan you chose and the customer and subscription identifiers Paddle assigns — never your card details.

Estimates are estimates

Loomo shows travel times, driving and charging estimates, recommended arrival buffers, weather forecasts, currency figures, and cost totals for planning purposes only. They can be wrong or out of date. Always confirm gates, boarding times, schedules, and prices directly with your airline, railway, or other provider before relying on them.

AI features

Loomo AI drafts trips, suggests routes, reads booking details out of emails and screenshots, and answers searches. It is a language model, and language models make mistakes: a draft can name a place that is closed, a route can be impractical, a booking detail can be read wrong, and a search answer can be out of date. Check anything it produces against your real bookings and the real world before relying on it. Nothing is added to a trip from a booking email until you approve it.

AI features have a daily allowance per account (bigger with Loomo Plus) and may be unavailable at times. We may change the models we use.

Outdoor safety

Hiking, biking, running, camping and other outdoor activities carry real risk, including injury and death. Loomo is a planning aid, not a guide and not an emergency service. You are responsible for your own safety, for your preparation and judgement, and for following the law and park rules wherever you go.

The information in Trails — trails, routes, campsites, whether fires or barbecues are allowed, wildlife ranges and sightings, park alerts, weather, distances and elevation — comes from public and community sources (OpenStreetMap contributors, the US National Park Service, Recreation.gov, GBIF, the USGS and similar) and from Loomo’s own calculations. It can be wrong, outdated or incomplete, and conditions change: a trail may be closed, a bridge gone, a campsite full or a road washed out.

  • "Fire / BBQ allowed (mapped)" means community map data (OpenStreetMap) or agency data marks the place as allowing fires, or a fire pit or barbecue is mapped there or nearby. It says nothing about today: fire rules change daily. Always check current local restrictions and permits before lighting anything; seasonal and emergency bans override whatever Loomo shows.
  • "No sightings" never means no animals, and an animal’s range on the map never means you will or won’t meet one. The wildlife guidance in Loomo is general information paraphrased from public agencies, not professional, medical or legal advice.
  • A route Loomo generates, or one another member shares, is not a recommendation that it is safe, open, legal or suitable for you. Check it against current conditions and your own ability.
  • Offline maps, GPS positions, distances and elevation profiles can be inaccurate, and your phone can run out of battery, lose signal or break. Carry proper navigation tools and a paper map where it matters, know the local emergency number, and tell someone your plan.

Availability

Loomo is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. It's an independent project with no guaranteed uptime: features can change, and the service may be unavailable during maintenance or updates. We work to avoid losing your data, but please keep your own copies of anything critical.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses — for example a missed flight, a missed connection, or a booking cost — arising from your use of Loomo or from anything it estimated or displayed, nor for losses or injury arising from outdoor activities or from relying on Trails, weather or AI information.

Nothing in these terms limits rights that you have under mandatory consumer-protection law where you live, including in the EU and the UK.

Ending your account

You can stop using Loomo at any time, and you can delete your account yourself under Settings → Security & privacy → Delete account. That removes your account and everything it owns — trips, attachments, budgets, saved places, activities, routes and anything you published — right away, and asks Paddle to cancel any running web subscription at once (if Paddle can’t be reached, Loomo notes it for follow-up). Deleting Loomo does not cancel an Apple subscription: use Manage Apple subscription or Apple Settings → Subscriptions to stop renewals. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone, so download your data first if you want to keep a copy (Settings → Security & privacy → Download your data, right above Delete account). Copies in the database’s automatic backups age out within 30 days, and only the payment records described in the Privacy Notice stay, for accounting. Guest sessions and unverified accounts are removed on the schedule described in the Privacy Notice.

We may close accounts that break these terms. If you think we got that wrong, email hello@loomo.cc.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If something goes wrong, please email hello@loomo.cc first: we will try to sort it out informally. If you are a consumer, you keep any protections and the right to bring claims under the mandatory law of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Loomo changes. The date at the top of this page is when the current version took effect. If a change matters to you, we will announce it in the app or by email before it takes effect; continuing to use Loomo after that means you accept the new terms. Questions are welcome at hello@loomo.cc.
